Selena Gomez: “El viaje a Africa me ha cambiado la vida”

Selena es la reina de los adolescente de Disney, trabaja en tv, y una muy buena cantante de rock. Pero con tan solo 17 años de edad, Selena Gómez dice que lo que realmente calo su en su mente hace poco fue su viaje a la nación africana de Ghana.
“Tengo que cumplir con los adolescentes, pude conocer a los niños, pude conocer a las familias”, dijo Gómez en una entrevista el viernes sobre lo que fue el viaje, que tomó el mes pasado con su madre y su padrastro en su papel como la embajadora de UNICEF más joven de la historia.
“Fue completamente un cambio de vida y un abrir los ojos, que cuando regresamos, definitivamente no tenía nada de poque quejarse.”
Este es el segundo año de Gómez como portavoz del programa para UNICEF, que segun la organización es uno de los más largos movimientos de voluntariado juvenil en América. El año pasado, Gómez recaudo alrededor de 700.000 dólares para la campaña, este año se espera lograr mas de $1 millón de dolares.
Muchos niños ven Gómez jugando con Alex Russo en “el canal de Disney Wizards of Waverly Place” y saben poco acerca de África o los problemas que enfrenta, señaló Gómez. “Por eso me siento muy honrado de tener una voz que los niños deben ser escuchados y tomarlos en consideración”, dijo.
Es una época muy agitada para Gómez, ya que cuya serie regresa para una tercera temporada el 9 de octubre, y que esta semana es el relanzamiento de su album, “Kiss & Tell“, con su banda, The Scene.
“No puedo creer que tenga un CD!” , dijo. Pero agregó: “La actuacion siempre será lo primordial para mi. Me encanta actuar. La música es más una cosa personal que me gusta hacer”.
El éxito de Gómez en Disney ya ha dado lugar a inevitables comparaciones con otra sensación adolescente, Miley Cyrus.
“No estoy aquí para sustituir a nadie”, dice ella. “Estoy aquí haciendo mis cosas. Estoy orgullosa de ser parte de la familia de Disney Channel y lo estoy tomando día a día”.
